Packd FAQs
Packd is a North American manufacturer of modular aluminum van shelving systems, designed to improve space, organization, and efficiency for commercial and fleet vehicles.
Packd was developed from years of input from fleet managers, technicians, and upfitters. The result is a shelving system that’s durable, secure, easy to install, and simple to configure – purpose-built to be lightweight while maximizing space and ergonomics.
Each unit combines aluminum extrusions with honeycomb composite shelf panels for exceptional strength-to-weight performance. This design delivers rigid, quiet shelving that’s lighter than traditional steel systems without compromising durability.
Packd’s tapered design contours to van walls, creating more walkable space:
Ford Transit: approx. 37” aisle width
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: approx. 39”
RAM ProMaster: approx. 41”
Steel shelving is heavier and if maximum capacity isn’t your top concern, steel can be an option. Aluminum systems like Packd offer superior strength-to-weight performance. Packd’s all-aluminum design with composite shelf bottoms also saves aisle space and makes customization simple.

Every 100 lbs added to a van reduces fuel economy by roughly 1%, and heavier shelving also limits payload. Traditional steel systems often weigh 450–700 lbs and consume up to 20% of available capacity. A comparable Packd aluminum system weighs under 200 lbs – using just 5–8% of payload while improving fuel efficiency and carrying power.
